I'm quite interested in this.
The most police interference most fo us will experience is to do with motor vehicles

i was once stopped in a classic car ( NCT exempt) by a buffoon of a garda who argued with me for over 30 minutes, saying he couldn't believe it was NCT exempt.

No amount of telling him convinced him.

Eventually i told him the insurance company would require a consultant engineers report and he allowed me to go on my way

Arrogant stupid twat.
deregister...
But when I bring speed machine from UK or NI its not registered here at all...
Yeah but if your car is registered you dont own it. the company you registered it too owns it. id rather own my own car, that way they cant take it off my for not paying tax.

I havent paid tax in my car for while now, I havent been stopped as of yet but i think im prepared for the day it happens.
I did get a notice on my car last week from a drogheda council, but i just posted it back to them telling them i didnt want to contract.

this is interesting, I would like to see what we could find out on the issue, Im a car owner too and would love to rightfully claim OWNERSHIP of my vehicle. My tax is up in Feb and would like to think that I wont pay it but if the car is still registered then I cant see myself getting away with it.
Would also be interesting to know how to go about buying a new car without it being registered.

Well i only sent it on wednesday, they normally send you a reminder to pay so ill have to wait and see what happens. I only got as far as getting a provisional licence and i think its out of date.

And they havent pursued it any further? Can they not pull you up on the fact that you have registered your car and you hold a driving licence, which is proof that your person is the registered keeper of the car?

Yeah I'm quite interested in this subject too as a car an motorbike owner, wasting money on tax, I'm quite interested in unregistering both of them, if possible. Step by step to become a Freeman, I only wonder do I first need to become totally legally sovereign, such as terminating my original birth cert, I aint ready to go that far yet. One step at a time.

I do assume I have to unregister the car before I am free to abandon the tax issue, I just have no idea how to go about that.
I had my car seized last night under Section 41 of the Road Traffics ACT. Part 5 of this act says that the OWNER must pay costs and fines to have it released.
5. (1) Subject to articles 6,7, 8 and 9, where a vehicle has been detained, removed and stored in accordance with article 4, there shall be paid by the owner of the vehicle to the Commissioner a charge for the detention and removal of the vehicle and a charge for the storage of the vehicle as follows—

( a ) for the detention, removal and for storage for one day of the vehicle— - £100.

( b ) for each further day of storage— - £25

I also note it says £100 and £25, we use euros here now, unless I have an out dated section of the statute, I believe this section was added in 2000 just before we joined the euro.

So who pays and how much exactly?
I dont think you need to become a legally sovereign in order to unregister your car/bike. think of that being one of your steps.

I havent paid tax in awhile but i havent been pulled over yet( the joy of living out of main towns and cities)

Im trying to find out myself how to unregister my car. The search continues

Just watched a video from john harris on de-registering your car ( http://www.youtube.com/user/pleasuredome85 ) Youll find them on that.
From what i got from it it is basically sending in a noi&cor for your car.
Send it to the dept of transport and see if they reply. id prob follow this up by sending it to the heads of your local garda station.

There is a risk that ill get hassle from them but if i send them a fee schedule along with the noi&cor for a ridiculous amount of money itll be worth the risk.

ill have to do some soul searching first.
Nice one Wayne, I'll look into this!

I understand the soul searching thing, its like 'well am I ready to assert myself to Authority', and 'what will happen if I do?', kind of shows the hold they have over us (me).
Speaking from experience.... I think the best way to motor about with no license or tag on your car is to get a "FEE SCHEDULE" in place with the government and local Chief of Police.
Then draw up some copies of a bill in order to present a bill to anyone caught providing one with "un-authorized services".
Do you have a federal court similar to our "court of Queens Bench?"
You must have a court were one can file a statement of claim.
Cops DO NOT want anything to do with someone handing them a bill for un-authorized services rendered.
THEY KNOW! ....Where that is bound to land them.
When they stop you make sure you ask them for ID first....before they can ask you.
I carry a plastic holder / clip board combo similar to what the cops carry when writing out tickets.
If they wish that I should accept their "bill of exchange" then, "they can accept mine."
I had my car taken off me several days ago, by a young Garda who stopped me over tax and insurance etc. He went on to cite section 4 of the Road Traffic Act to me, and I reminded him that this was a Statute and not a law. I was trying to explain to him my understanding that a statute requires Consent in order to enjoy the FORCE of law, but this guy was too busy taking a serious mickey fit. Long story short, he seized my car, despite my informing him that I did not consent to this statute, and long story short, I had to pay 125 to get my car back. I can imagine he is going to try to get me into court to prosecute me for the whole tax, insurance and NCT thing. So I guess I have to brace myself for a war with this guy, because even the entire garda station seems ot be convinced that I am wrong.
