Comment by Mark McMorrow on July 21, 2012 at 14:21 Thanks, Kevin. Not to oversimplify, but simply a lot of work and attention to detail.
To give you an example, most knife makers use power tools to lay on jimping (decorative file work found along the spine of the blade). Though this method is fast and takes little effort, it's just not possible to get the same results old fashioned hand filing gives you.

Comment by Mark McMorrow on July 20, 2012 at 2:42 Thanks, komurchu. Yes, though there are essentially three of us involved in the process so I can't take all the credit! It's all hand-work, done the old way with sometimes several hours going into the fancy file work alone. And yes, I do sell such things. Thanks for asking!
Comment by komurchu on July 20, 2012 at 1:42 Beautiful work, really beautiful. Are they made by you and do you sell such items?
Comment by Mark McMorrow on July 20, 2012 at 1:38 Thank you, Morgan. Typically, the blades are hand forged 52100 carbon steel. Hilts of various natural material - antler or carved woods (bog oak, ebony, blackwood, etc.).
Comment by Morgan Freeman on July 19, 2012 at 22:34 Great craftsmanship. What material is the handle fashioned from?
