hey
my heart is broken
and its not love that has it in bits.
the causes are an army of greedy bastards
munching the sprouting seeds before they appreciate the light of day
yip
slugs
i have pots of oat bran
comfrey defences
wet news paper collection points
and 7 baby ducks just a wee bit to young to live in the veg plot yet(magpie threat)

i think ducks are the answer
so i need wait small while yet
(slug problem equals duck deficiency )
in the morning i collect a breakfast bowl full of the slimy fkrs
feed them to the ducks and they ravish them like a pack of dogs

in the mean time any other tactics?
i so wanted lots of carrots this year must of planted 4 or5 packets and not one seed made toddlerhood

on a thankful note
i thank the stars they dont bite or sting

how you doing friend

and again

isee in your photos pictures you made some canoe/boat did you go journey ing in them, they look beautifully built. we ( lots of us) made canoes few years ago out of ash thin strips 3cm x0.5 ISH bent and then covered with canvas and bitumen then took them down the shannon for a month (we 5 used a fiber glass run o the mill canadian c.) but to make a boat is a great thing. tomake anything with our own hands is great, once upon a time it was normal.
p.s our canoes were great until we left the shannon navigation route and came upon the rapids and rips literally then it was sink sink sink
and this time truly
i bid you a good evening

hey friend
sure the grass is reaching for the light through my mulch more more more needed. you got the right idea to grow to store.
a friend of mine pulled up carrots the other day belief it of not after they been hidden for weeks under the snow in the freeze and they were just delicious.i dont grow carrots too well YET they fork into octopus. the peas hardly ever see a pan or hot water, ilike to send the children out to graze.
i made loads of jam last year, but i used dark sugar and no one in my house likes it too much which is a pain in the jar!
how come brasicca a pain being 5km away, cause of slugs and catapillars?have to admit the greens grow real well here but a lot of them were returned to the earth uneaten.which i think is fine. green mulch is good.i said it b4 somewhere but in my local veg shop you can buy a cuisine box of seeds mustard etc(lots o seeds for little money) and they grow like stink and ijust mulch it there and then in suite really simple, green manure.

anyway best of luck
p.s
our neighbour has spuds in the ground in his polyT couple o weeks since, great to get an early start
slan(if youever up this way (near athlone 20min by commonly called car) do call in!
