Comment by bobby d on August 28, 2012 at 22:17 Here are some 'hows' for parents to consider which will change the society we live in.
Stop handing your children over to the churches to be christened/baptised/knob chopped (and any other irrational forms of ritual). Giving children non existent entities on their shoulders which become internalized for the reason of controlling their behavior is an abhorrent method of parenting which is all to prevalent still on this island.
Stop sending them to indoctrination camps. Look into pulling the kids out of the schools. Unschooling/homeschooling is a far better method of learning for a child and will not force a child to go through the slavery of the involuntary camps that are public schools on this island. Most of the junk they teach is never used after leaving anyway.
Stop treating children as things and offer them full personhood and do not hit or shout at them like you would not hit or shout at any other adult member of society. Teach them by example by using the non aggression principle in your life everyday. Learn to negotiate instead of enforcing your preferences over the child.
Something everyone should do
Gain self knowledge. Know what trigger you and learn about your emotional cues. Learn where they come from. Analyze your past and realise the hurt inside and give yourself some empathy. Learn to learn about yourself. Learn to learn about your nearest and dearest. Help them learn about themselves. One person at a time the world can become healed from the domination culture we have become accustomed to. It just takes commitment to the truth and to the plan, your plan, for your peaceful future.
Can't wait for this to pan out. He was arrested unlawfully. Simples.
I hope he handles this in the right way and show up the gardaí and government for what they are.
Comment by Kev on August 28, 2012 at 20:09 I agree and there are a lot of things of a similar vein that need to change. I think the challenge is not in identifying the things that need changing so much as identifying the means to effect the change. I mean it's more of a how do we get from where we are to where we need to be? That's the big issue imo.
Comment by bobby d on August 27, 2012 at 23:24 People believe that initiating force is moral. That needs to change before anything changes.
Comment by Kev on August 27, 2012 at 22:17 "The man (or men) who crushed the tyrants head became the tyrant in his stead" ?
What needs to happen to effect the change we really need...? Will it ever change or is revolution just that...a revolving door?
Comment by bobby d on August 27, 2012 at 22:12 This government may be finished but the slaves will just get another dog and pony show in. Freedom will never be had by bringing in new puppets. It is philosophical change people need to get into their heads. The majority of us can't even think properly having been through years of coercive brainwashing. I don't see it changing in my lifetime.
Comment by A Solas on August 27, 2012 at 15:07 "This government" infers another one and unfortunately you may be correct, politicians have no fear of their slaves, why would they when they have uniformed dogs who obey their every command and a populace where a majority gives them a thumbs up every time they ask for it.
People are angry, maybe, but they are not showing any signs of wanting freedom yet.
Comment by Diane, Denizen on August 27, 2012 at 14:54 Listen to the applause the man is getting! This government is finished, what they have forgotten is they have to live amongst us and there is no worse fear than having to always look over your shoulder.
