HHO Dry Cell Generator build from Scrap, How-To DIY

Nov 21, 2013

In this video I'm building a homemade HHO dry cell generator form scrap, this is the first dry cell generator I have built and I'm am not a professional. The only materials I had to purchase was the fasteners cost about four dollars. An HHO generator is just a unit which separates Hydrogen and Oxygen from water using electrolysis. Electrolysis is a very simple process learned in high school science class with a Hoffman Apparatus. They call these things HHO generators now because the term HHO was adopted from the masses. The gas that comes out of these units are a mixture of Hydrogen and Oxygen, "Oxyhydrogen" when water and a catalyst is used. Oxyhydrogen was used in the 1800's for lighting " Lime Light" .

If your making one of these, you should make sure your bolts are insulated from short circuits, either using coated steel bolts or some kind of nylon or perspex bolts that don't conduct electricity.
You may also be interested in insulating your steel bolts with some Shrink wrap from the electrical shop, but remember to account for the extra bolt width.

As someone who has spent about four years studying this technology I would say its anything but simple, I don't know of anyone who can honestly say they can guarantee mpg savings with their HHO device, however if you really want to understand the technology the best site by far is: http://www.hho4free.com/sitemap.htm

Mike Sheen explains what the "neutral" plates are for, and how many to have in a dry cell.

The plates distribute the voltage across the cell, keeping an optimum 2 Volts for each plate.

Good PDF document (3.1 MB) on Flashback Arrestors (which stop a flame-front from blowing up your Hyrogen / Brown's Gas Cell).
